Lipa veľkolistá rastie ako solitér pri mostíku na potoku Bystrica, na začiatku Vajanského námestia a okraji Ulice Janka Kráľa. Počas vysadenia stál v jej blízkosti dom maliarov a židovská synagóga. Pod stromom bol vztýčený drevený kríž, vysoký cca 3 metre. Detonácie, nálety, streľbu, príchody a odchody vojsk skúsili Banskobystričania a s nimi aj predmetná lipa vo viacerých vlnách 2. svetovej vojny. Zničenie komunikácie a mostíka partizánmi a výstavbu provizórneho premostenia medzi potokom Bystrica a mestskou časťou Radvaň zázrakom prežila a podľa svedkov ešte v roku 1945 zakvitla.

A single large-leaved lime tree grows near the bridge across the Bystrica stream at the edge of Vajanského square and at the beginning of the Janka Kráľa street. It stood near a painters’ house and a Jewish synagogue at the time when it was planted. A wooden cross, around 3 metres tall, was erected underneath it. Just as the inhabitants of Banská Bystrica, the lime tree endured several waves of bombing, air strikes, gunfire and the coming and going of armies during World War II. Miraculously, it survived when the road and the bridge were destroyed by partisans and a temporary bridge was built to connect Bystrica and Radvaň, and even produced flowers in 1945, according to witnesses. It was spared during the construction of a new bridge after the war. This last remaining tree of the former Lower Square is around 90 years old. Its trunk circumference is 218cm at the height of 1.3m and the tree is about 12m tall. It is an appreciated landscape feature and remains in good condition, with only limited drying of its crown.
